Every two years, our state party puts on a convention that convenes Democrats from across the state, to determine the direction and beliefs of the Democratic Party through a deeply (small-d) democratic process.
It is at the convention that the delegates vote on the resolutions that communicate our core ethics and to build a platform that clearly states the beliefs of the party. These become the policy blueprint for the world we work hard to bring into being.
Who attends the Convention?
You could!
Anyone who says they are a Democrat and can attend either in-person or remotely. We are looking to build a team of folks that reflect the diversity of the 1st Legislative District, across age, race, gender identity, and socioeconomic background.
Our district spans the cities of Bothell, Kenmore, Woodinville, Lake Forest Park, Brier, and the northwest corner of Kirkland, as well as various unincorporated regions of Snohomish and King counties.
What happens at the Convention?
At the convention, you’ll find opportunities to make a positive impact in a world that desparately needs it.
- Are you interested in preserving the environment and fighting climate change? Find fellow activists making an impact!
- Do you want to help develop policy to the protect vulnerable and marginalized communities that are under direct threat by the current regime? This work is central to the Democratic mission!
- Do you want to learn more about the democratic process? This is a great place to learn how groups work together in common cause!
- Are you interested in meeting some of the elected officials that represent you? They’ll be there!
